Message from Chief Executive, Ken Bremner The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has arrived at Sunderland Royal Hospital for an unannounced inspection. This will be carried out by inspectors today and tomorrow (21st and 22nd June 2022). It will include visiting South Tyneside District Hospital. The inspection will focus on maternity and medicine (including care of the older person), but all colleagues need to be aware that they may visit your department.
In May we celebrated Midwifery Day, Nurses Day and ODP Day.
We want to remind our Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professional colleagues to ensure that you keep your professional registration up to date. It’s important that you pay your fees on time when they are due, otherwise your registration will automatically lapse and you won’t be able to practice until you’re readmitted to the register.
Resource boxes are on their way to wards and departments to help them support our relaunched Carer Passport scheme.
In 2019 The British Society of Echo released new guidelines and reference intervals. Due to the pandemic Diagnostic Cardiology across South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust had delayed the full transition over to the new reporting terminology. By Monday 11th July we aim to change over fully to the new guidance and reporting terminology.
