We wanted to let colleagues know some sad news about a former member of staff, Alan Raymond. Alan sadly passed away a couple of weeks ago after a long illness. Alan, who retired in 2019, worked in the IT department first at STFT and then at STSFT. He was a much loved colleague, with a great sense of humour. Nothing was too much trouble and he always went out of his way to help.
On Saturday 22nd July the rain screen cladding for the window replacement work at Sunderland Royal Hospital will be craned onto the top level of the scaffolding. To allow this to be safely carried out the main entrance doors will be closed and a fence will be installed around the road line to prevent any unwanted access around the lifting platform area.
Could all staff please be mindful not to push the beds too far back into the bedspace. When this happens, as the bed is raised it causes damage not only to wall and trunking but also to the bed, which renders it unrepairable.
A 40 tonne all-terrain mobile crane will arrive this weekend to lift equipment into place.
Areas of the hospital are due to experience very short disruption to their power this Sunday.
All colleagues are invited to book onto interactive teaching sessions which will provide information and advice for staff around behaviours that can seem challenging in patients affected by memory or thinking problems (cognitive problems). You will find out how to involve families and carers. You can also take part in a special “sensory experience” session.
