Charitable funds can be used to pay for a range of improvements that would not normally be funded through core NHS funding. This page outlines the projects that the Charitable Funds Committee has approved.

Every ward and service has at least one charitable fund attached to it, ward/service funds can only be used to fund projects that directly or indirectly benefit the patients in those areas. Funds are generally used to improve patient amenities and to purchase state of the art equipment, but can also be used for a variety of other purposes as long as there is only incidental personal benefit and an improvement in patient experience/outcomes can be shown.

For projects under £5,000 in value spend decisions are made by Ward and Directorate Managers in consultation with finance and the Trusts Exec Team. Any project that is valued over £5,000 or is unusual in nature will need approval from the Charitable Funds Committee, which meets regularly throughout the year.
