The centre offers a friendly and relaxed environment, with a lounge area where staff can meet for a chat or have your lunch.

The monthly fee of £15 a month includes access to the centre from 05:30 till 23:00 hours seven days a week.

You will have unlimited use of gym and classes. Training programmes, advice and support can be arranged with our fully qualified staff. The centre also has a shower and changing facilities as well as a sauna and a steam room (sauna and steam room operating only when the centre is staffed).

The centre is based at SRH and has a fully equipped gym with both cardiovascular and weight training equipment as well as a studio where we offer a range of different exercise classes inlcuding; Pilates, Spinning, HIIT and Weights. Joining or cancelling

There is no yearly contract.

To join the centre you will need to complete the following:-

  • Application form with details to deducted the £15 fee directly from monthly salary via payroll 
  • Health Questionnaire (PAR-Q) 
  • Health & Safety Declaration Form 

Upon joining you will need an induction to the gym which takes approx. 25mins showing you all the facilities and how to use the equipment. This has a one off charge of £6.50 which will be deducted on your first month salary. You can book your induction by contacting the centre reception.

Your ID badge will be activated so you have swipe access into the facility.

In the event you wish to cancel your membership you will need to complete the cancelation form and have it returned to the Health and Fitness Centre reception by the last day in the month.

On joining the Health & Fitness Centre you are agreeing to abide by the Members Charter.

Using the Gym

  • We ask members to sign in and out each visit to the centre so in an emergency situation we are aware of who is in the facility.
  • We advise staff to pre book classes, as they can book up quickly. This can be done by emailing the Wellbeing Team @ stsft.wellbeing@nhs.net
  • We advise members to put contact numbers on the class booking so in the unforeseen event a class must be changed we can contact members.
  • We expect members to clean down the equipment after use with the wipes provided.
  • We request that members respect other members in the facility.
  • We advise members to be vigilant and not allow others to tail gate into the facility.
  • We expect members to adhere to health & fitness centre notices whilst in the facility.

The classes available are:-

  • Kettlebells – A mixture of kettlebells, body weight and core exercises to improve cardio, build strength and a strong core due to constant changing centre of gravity.
  • Weights/Pump it up– A combination of body bar, hand weight & body weight exercises designed for a full body workout, to build strength, tone up and have fun whilst doing it. 
  • Bootcamp – A mix of weighted, body weight, cardio and core exercises for a full body workout. 
  • Spin – An energetic workout designed with fun & sweat in mind, expect sprints, climbs & jumps. Cycle at your own pace and really enjoy the music!
  • Pilates – Designed to improve posture & lengthen muscles. Exercises are slow & controlled aiming to work inner muscles and helping to build a human corset with the back & stomach muscles.
  • HIIT – ‘High intensity interval training’ is a short workout with bursts of cardio and strength exercises with brief periods of recovery. A class to give you the best results in a small period of time.
  • HIIT Step – 30 minute HIIT exercise class using only bodyweight and a step. Using the principles of High Intensity Interval, Training, this class is choreographed to bespoke soundtracks created by some of the UK's top House DJs. HIIT Step is a high energy class that pushes you to new limits.
  • Fitball - Fit Ball is a ball based training class which challenges your muscles, helping to strengthen and build up the core muscles of your body, such as the abdominals, back, buttocks & thighs. The Fit ball provides an excellent workout which will result in a stronger core, improved posture and better body alignment.
  • Bike and Booty - A combination of bootcamp and spinning. Alternating between weights, body weighted exercises and cycling, bike and booty is a fun, upbeat and energetic class.
  • Strength and Conditioning - Designed to build strength, power and speed. Great for weight loss and improving fitness and sport related performance.
  • Aerobics - Exercises set to music aerobics aims to raise your heart rate and get the blood and oxygen flowing morre quickly through structures movements. This class offers a total-body workout that can help develop stamina, endurance and mobility.

For health and safety reasons the use of the steam and sauna room are only available when the Wellbeing Team are within the centre.
