BSc Nursing Apprenticeship

BSc Nursing Apprenticeship

From January 2019, a BSC Nursing Apprenticeship will commence in South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust in partnership with the University of Sunderland.

Applicants will be current employees of the Trust, having worked in a Health Care role for a minimum of 2 years, completed their Care Certificate and met the educational requirements of the programme.

Credit for time worked in care will be considered which allows times from the 5 year programme to be shortened. This means the apprentice will complete either a 4 year or a 3 year course, depending on their academic qualification level. Apprentices will continue to be paid as a Health Care Assistants for the duration of the programme and will work 50% of the time in their own work area and 50% in supernumerary placements.

The Apprentice will have a ‘supervisor’ (a registrant) in both the base and supernumerary placements. They are also supported and signed as competent by a member of university staff called an AESiP (Apprentice Education Supervisor in Practice)

Further details about applications etc. should be directed to stsft.Apprenticeships@nhs.net

Further information about placements and supervisors should be directed to stsft.practiceplacementfacilitators@nhs.net

ARC PEP-Net

ARC PEP-Net is a web based placement information system managed collaboratively by the Trust and Northumbria University. Each placement has identified ARC users who can access and maintain real time information about their team and the students they are allocated. Students can access information about their placements before they start which should enhance their overall experience.
