Quality initiatives should be developed through multidisciplinary collaboration and benchmarking. The trust quality initiatives have an evidence base and are focussed upon  improving patient and population health outcomes. Initiatives include revising patient care standards and policies and create a culture of person and family centred care with strong mission, vision, goals and values.

Work in this standard workstream is aimed at ensuring:

  • The trust has a strategy to align its staff with mission, values, vision and goals beyond induction.
  • The trust promotes a culture of person and family centred care
  • The trust offers educational sessions about respectful communication.
  • The trust offers educational opportunities regarding application of evidence based care.
  • The trust implements evidence based care
  • The trust has a multi-professional collaboration approach to meeting quality initiatives
  • The trust communicates updates about quality initiatives and performance against quality measures.
  • External benchmarks are used to guide decisions about nursing practice
