e-Prescribing

Most of you will be aware that we had to postpone the roll out of electronic prescribing in Meditech at STDH due to the challenges with COVID-19.

We are very happy to confirm now that the new go-live date for electronic prescribing, transfusion administration recording and closed loop medication administration at South Tyneside will now be Monday 29th June.

This requires that every staff member involved in any of these tasks has to attend a training session in between now and 26 June at the very latest. To book onto Medics training please contact lynn.eddon@stft.nhs.uk.  To book onto Nurses training please contact stsft.NursingInformaticsDepartmentalTeam@nhs.net

Data quality issues should be reported to the Trust data assurance team. They can be contacted via ext 41333 or stsft.dataquality@nhs.net

How do I order more order entry (lab) printer labels?

Please contact ghnt.pathology.orders@nhs.net  The labels will then be delivered to South Tyneside hot lab.

Screens too bright on laptops, can they be dimmed?

  • Not currently.  Variation in brightness is mainly due to whether the laptop is plugged into the main or is working on the battery.  IT are working on trying to get an optimum brightness regardless of power source.

Why can’t student Nurses admit patients? (they cannot complete their competences without this access)

  • It is correct that Student nurses should not be able to admit until they have received the relevant training at the end of their first year (IT will be notified to change access on completion of this).

X to PAS and PAS to X number

This will enable users to enter a PAS number and it will return a patient’s associated X number.  You can also enter a X number to return a PAS number.

Medisec Digital Dictation

On Tuesday 11th February 2020 South Tyneside District Hospital will be changing the current Frisbee Digital Dictation solution to Medisec DD.  The implementation will be phased with the Acute Clinical Teams at STDH going live first.  Medisec DD will then be rolled out into Sunderland Royal Hospital to be in line with our strategic direction at a later stage.

Thank you for your support and patience during this period.

Meditech Care Planning Training Video

Following ward staff reporting that they are unsure how to add, edit and personalise care plans within MEDITECH, we have developed a short video which demonstrates the process. Clearly care planning is a critically important element of Nursing Documentation, so we invite you to view the following video: Meditech Training Video - YouTube
