360 degree feedback

360 degree feedback helps individuals identify where their leadership strengths and development needs lie. The process includes getting confidential feedback from line managers, peers and direct reports. You will be able to view your 360 report through a nominated facilitator during your feedback session. As a result, it gives an individual an insight into other people’s perceptions of their leadership abilities and behaviour.

To find out more information or to request a 360 degree feedback, please email us at stsft.leadershipcourses@nhs.net with as much information about yourself and why you are requesting this.

How will I receive my 360 report?

You will be able to view your 360 report through a nominated facilitator during your feedback session.

How can I prepare myself for completing the questionnaire?

There is no preparation required for completing this questionnaire. We do recommend that you allow yourself time to complete the questionnaire in a quiet and undisturbed environment, and that you answer with your natural response.

Who can rate me?

You can choose anyone within your work environment to rate you. However, at least one line manager must have completed your assessment for you to request your report. Below are the options you will have in the system:

  • Line Manager: the person to whom you report.
  • Peers: colleagues and fellow team members, probably at a similar job level, with whom you work.
  • Direct Reports: those for whom you have a direct responsibility to lead.
  • Others: anyone else you would like to receive feedback from.

How do I choose my raters?

On the review or add rater screen, you must add the email address and name of the person you are adding as a rater, this will send out an email invitation. You are required to have at least one line manager and it is recommended that you also have at least three peers and three direct reports set up as raters, although this is optional.

How will I know when my raters have rated me?

Within the questionnaire home screen, there is a status for each rater which will update accordingly and marked as 'Completed' once they have rated you.

Do I have to book a facilitator to receive my 360 report?

Yes a facilitator is required to feedback your report.

360 degree feedback: Information for rater

I have been asked to rate someone as part of their 360, how long will this take me?

The questionnaire should take you approximately 30 - 40 minutes to complete.

Will my ratings and comments be anonymous on the report?

Your ratings and comments will be anonymous, however, your relationship to the person will be displayed (e.g: Line Manager, Peer, Direct Report and Other). Your ratings will also contribute to average scores on the participant's report. If you are the participant's line manager, your feedback ratings will not be anonymous as these will be shown separately.

Am I involved in the report discussion?

No, the discussion and review of the report will be completed in a confidential meeting between the person being assessed and the facilitator they have chosen. The facilitator booking is done by the participant upon creation of their 360-assessment.

How do I access the questionnaire?

When you are chosen by the participant, you will receive an invitation email inviting you to follow a link to the questionnaire.

Why am I rating this person?

The purpose of the 360 feedback process is to help identify what the self-assessor does well and not so well so as to support their professional development.

When do I need to complete my rating by?

The participant will have chosen a time bracket, in which they require you to complete your rating. Please start the questionnaire at a time convenient to you.

What happens if I leave the system without finishing the questionnaire?

Click on the link again in the email and you will return to your previous position in the questionnaire.

At the very start of the self-awareness journey is Insights Discovery. A psychometric tool based on the psychology of Carl Jung, Insights Discovery is built to help people understand themselves, understand others, and make the most of the relationships that affect them in the workplace.

The Insights Discovery methodology uses a simple and memorable four colour model to help people understand their style, their strengths and the value they bring to the team. We call these the colour energies, and it's the unique mix of Fiery Red, Sunshine Yellow, Earth Green and Cool Blue energies, which determines how and why people behave the way they do.
