International nurses are an important part of the Trust`s workforce. They add to the cultural and diverse nature of the NHS workforce. Nurses from other countries seeking employment within our Trust are required to fulfil Nursing & Midwifery Council requirements so that they may practice and register to work as a nurse in England, they are required to undertake and pass an adaptation programme.
Must be able to evidence your home country nursing registration details. In order to work as registered nurses in England a CBT (Computer Based Test), and IELTs (International English Language Test) must be met. All relevant documentation to receive a decision letter from the NMC, this will enable a NMC Test of Competence (OSCE). This forms part of the Trust`s Adaptation Nursing Programme.

It may be that your nursing degree that has been gained from a country outside of the UK is not at the same academic level (degree level equivalent in the United Kingdom). The Trust recruitment team can provide an indication of this. If this is the case after successful completion of the Adaptation Nursing Programme you may wish to discuss this with your line manager.
As part of the appraisal process learning and development opportunities can be discussed with your line manager. This can highlight your career development options. Following this discussion you may wish to contact the Organisational Development team.
The Trust runs a monthly online BAME networking group, which offers support and guidance to help international Nurses settle into our Trust. On joining the Trust International Nurses are signposted to this support and networking group.
