The Trust Charity relies on donations from the public and fundraising activity carried out by staff and members of the public.
Staff can organise their own fundraising events/activities or take part in those organised by our charity (see the Charity Events page, linked below). Fundraising can take many forms, a sponsored walk along Hadrian’s wall, skate boarding from the mouth of the Tyne to the mouth of the Wear, sitting in a bath of beans for a day, to name but a few. The charities will support almost any activity, but we do draw the line at anything that runs against the ideals and purpose of the hospital such as a burger eating contest and if it’s illegal then needless to say we definitely won’t support it.
We have fundraisers who do regular bag packs at local shops, others who have organised cabaret nights and even have a volunteer who takes part in distance runs with a wheelie bin attached to his back!
We ask that all fundraising activity that is undertaken on or promoted in hospital premises is either for one of the more than 300 hospital funds managed by the charity or is for a charity/cause witch benefits our patients. Good examples of linked charities are St Benedict’s Hospice, Macmillan and RNIB all provide direct support to our patients, If you are unsure if the cause you want to support falls into these categories please contact us at stsft.charity@nhs.net
The charity will try to help with staff fundraising activity, but with our limited resources we can't do everything for you. We have produced a guide to fundraising which is available to download on the Charity Guides page (linked below), this should get you started we can also provide a template sponsorship forms and we will always do our best to answer any questions you have and get you heading in the right direction.
The charity has a small stock of collection buckets and tins which staff can use for fundraising purposes. Resources including a brand guide, popup displays and promotional leaflets will become available for use in the near future, in the meantime the Charitable Fundraiser and Communications team may be able to produce resources specifically for your event/activity.
If you would like to request a collection bucket or for other fundraising resources please contact stsft.charity@nhs.net
