It is important to familiarise yourself with emergency numbers used within the organisation, the following numbers are used on our hospital sites:

  • Cardiac arresrt 2222
  • Medical Emergency 2222
  • Fire 333
  • Security 777

Our community teams need to call 999 in an emergency situation and request the appropriate emergency service.

Fire Alarm

The fire alarm is a high-pitched tone that sounds when either a smoke alarm is activated or when a fire alarm is activated. An intermittent tone indicates that the fire is not in your immediate area and that all doors and windows must be closed.

In the event of a continuous tone, which indicates the fire is in your immediate area, an urgent investigation is required and possible evacuation of patients may be required. In this case please refer to the nurse in charge for further direction. The intermittent tone is sounded each week, on each site as a test.

Cardiac Arrest / Medical Emergency

In the event of a cardiac arrest or medical emergency on the ward you would be required to raise the alarm by pulling the emergency call button and shouting for assistance.
