Daily ward checks

Oxygen

Staff need to familiarise themselves with the oxygen and section equipment on the ward. The oxygen and suction check must be completed daily by the nurse in charge. Oxygen porter must be contacted on 51451 to replace empty tanks.

Crash Trolley

The top of the crash trolley is checked/cleaned daily by day or night staff and the full trolley is checked weekly. A full check of expiry dates is completed once a month.

Sluice

The sluice must be checked and cleaned 4 times in 24 hours and documented on the sluice checklist. All commodes and bed pans must be thoroughly cleaned after each use and a green clinell sticker must be completed with your name, time and date and placed on the cleaned equipment.
