The department of Cardiology provides a full range of outpatient and inpatient services for cardiac patients in our local population as well as some specialised services for patients from other areas of the North East of England.
We provide a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for both inpatient and outpatient Cardiology patients which are based around four main clinical areas.

One of our priorities is the commitment to training of all healthcare students. We provide formal and informal training opportunities on a regular basis and encourage participation in all our clinical activities.
ECR Recording E-learning programme
As a research active department we are involved with local, regional and national research projects. We collaborate with Sunderland, Newcastle and Durham Universities in addition to national research centres and the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR).
