Introduction

Tackling physical and verbal aggression against staff and professionals working for the Trust is a key area for the Trust's Security Service which is why we offer Conflict Resolution Training and tailor it's content to meet the needs of staff that have direct contact with patients and the public, however this training is available to all staff within the Trust.

In the training sessions staff will learn about why conflict occurs, what is acceptable and what is not, warning flags, environments that can trigger conflict, reasonable force, prevention strategies, de-escalation and much more.

These sessions are offered across both South Tyneside District Hospital and Sunderland Royal Hospital sites and each session will last approximately 2 hours. The training dates are available in the section below and can be booked via ESR. Spaces on these sessions are limited so we ask that if you are booked onto a session but cannot attend can you cancel your attendance on ESR to allow other staff members an oppertunity to take part.

For an informal discussion about conflict resolution in the workplace or about the conflict resolution training sessions, please contact Jim Charlton, Fire & Security Manager on 49613 or via email james.charlton6@nhs.net or Tracey Maynard, Security Advisor and Violence Point of Contact on 42936 or via email tracey.maynard@nhs.net.
