Medicines Policy and SOPs

Medicines are the most commonly used clinical intervention in healthcare.  It is important that for the safety of patients and those staff involved in their care that organisationally there are systems, policies and procedures that ensure medicines are handled safely and securely.

The Medicines policy is to ensure that a co-ordinated and uniform approach to the management of medicines.  This includes processes for obtaining and prescribing medicines, their storage and distribution, their administration, their disposal, and required recording to ensure safe, secure and effective use of medcines.
