It will welcome patients starting week commencing Monday, June 19.
It follows an investment into our Gynaecology services. Patients from across our Trust area will be offered their appointment at the unit.
It has been created in the space previously used as the Children’s Day Case Unit and Special Babies Care Unit (SCBU).
This is on the ground floor of the Ingham Wing with its entrance close to the outside doors to our Maternity Department.
This makes it easy to find and offers patients a quick route in and out of the hospital for their visit.
Appointments will move to this space from Ward 22, the old Maternity Ward on the third floor.
The new space has been remodelled to offer a tailored space for our patients and is light and bright.
It will also be a more modern and suitable place for our colleagues to work and features its own reception desk and waiting area for patients.
The unit consists of three spacious consultation rooms, one of which can be used for scans.
A staff room has been set up. The unit also has a dedicated storage room and cleaning areas.
The team are looking forward to an official launch in July.
The telephone number for the service will remain the same as it was for Ward 22.
Signage has also been arranged to help direct visitors and staff.
