From Monday (31 Oct), we plan to change the current visiting rules.  This means people will no longer need to book an appointment.  We have talked to ward managers about this before we make this change.  We hope this will make life a little bit easier for staff who we know are very busy.  Please see the updated rules below.  This will start from Monday.

Please note - We will still encourage visitors to wear a face mask when they visit.  This helps keep everyone safe.  There are face masks available at our main entrances. People should not visit if they feel unwell.  There may also be times when we need to suspend visiting in certain areas.  This is when we have an infection outbreak.

Adult inpatient wards

  • Patients can have 2 visitors at any one time.
  • Visitors can stay for up to one hour only.
  • Visiting times are 3pm to 4pm or 6.30pm – 7.30pm every day.
  • If you need to visit at any other time, you need to ask the Ward Manager first.
  • If you want to bring any children under 12, please ask the Ward Manager first.

COVID-19 wards

  • If you want to visit a loved one on one of our COVID-19 wards, you do so at your own risk.
  • You will need to wear a facemask and other PPE.
  • The above rules still apply.
  • Please do not visit if you have symptoms of COVID-19 or have tested positive.

Maternity

  • We allow 2 birthing partners to support you while you are having your baby.  Only 1 birthing partner can stay for the whole time.
  • We allow 2 visitors at any one time after you have had your baby.  You can also bring children to meet their new sibling.
  • You can visit at any time.
  • You can bring people with you to your scans and appointments.

Children’s wards

  • Patients can have 2 visitors at any one time.
  • If you want to bring any children under 12, please ask the Ward Manager first.
  • You can visit at any time.

Neonatal unit

  • Both parents can stay 24/7.
  • You can also bring children to meet their new sibling at any time.
  • We only allow 2 people per cot at any one time.
  • If you would like other people to visit, they must be over 16 years old.  They must visit at certain times. The ward team will let you know about this.

End of life care

  • We know there will be times when we need to change the visiting rules.  We want to support you and your loved one at the end of life.  Please just speak to the Ward Manager.

Carer passport

  • It can be difficult when someone you care for has to go into hospital.  We support and encourage you to be as involved as you want to be. You can stay longer and outside of the normal visiting hours. Please ask the Ward Manager about our Carer Passport.  This helps to identify you as a carer.

Other areas

  • Special arrangements will stay in place in certain parts of the hospital (for example critical care).  Please talk to the nurse in charge.

Sending Love

  • This service helps you to stay connected with loved ones who are in hospital. It allows you to send a written message or a photograph.  We hand deliver your messages to your loved one to help you stay in touch. Click here for more information.
