National funding for system-wide staff wellbeing hubs will stop at the end of the 2022/23 financial year. The North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care System (NENC ICS) has reviewed what support is in place across organisations in the North East and North Cumbria.

The review found that organisations have their own health and wellbeing support in place. As a result, the NENC Staff Wellbeing Hub will close immediately for new referrals for therapy and team support. It will continue to offer support and signposting to new referrals of individual staff for several more weeks. To support this period, all Providers across the NENC ICS agreed to extend the funding of the Hub until the end of September 2023.

NENC Integrated Care Board and Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW) thank everyone who has supported the hub.

National health and wellbeing support offers are available. Including the national textline, financial support resources and guides for line managers that can be accessed by all staff via the NHS website. This includes:

  • Growing Occupational Health and wellbeing services, people and practice
  • Health and wellbeing Framework to develop local HWB strategies
  • Health and wellbeing Guardians to help oversee delivery of health and wellbeing  interventions
  • Wellbeing Champions to promote team-based wellbeing
  • Training for line managers in wellbeing conversations
  • Free access to health and wellbeing support apps for all staff

In addition to local support offers, the Practitioner Health Service is available to eligible staff for support, as well as other existing mental health services such as IAPT talking therapy services.
