Earlier this year we made some changes to our mileage reimbursement rates after listening to feedback from staff, particularly from our colleagues in community teams, about the impact of current high fuel costs.

We have already increased the mileage rate paid after the 3,500 mileage cap from 20p per mile to 25p per mile for STSFT staff for use their own cars and, for lease car drivers, from 16p per mile to 21p per mile after the 4,000 mileage cap.  This change was implemented and backdated to 1 April 2022 and remains in place.

We have continued to listen to staff feedback given the ongoing rising cost of fuel and are now pleased to confirm the following changes for staff claiming mileage:

  • We will increase the mileage rate by 5p per mile from 56p per mile to 61p per mile for staff using their own cars (up to the mileage cap of 3,500)
  • We will increase the mileage rate by 5p per mile from 47p per mile to 52p per mile for staff using lease cars (up to the mileage cap of 4,000)

This increase will be backdated to 1 April 2022 and any staff who are owed money will receive this in August salaries. In addition, any staff who have travelled in excess of the mileage cap will receive a one-off payment and will be notified of the details in a personal letter from the Trust.

These arrangements for mileage rates will remain in place until 30 September 2022 when a further review of mileage rates will take place.
