Thank you to all colleagues who were involved in last week's unannounced Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection.  We had around 10 inspectors who came to visit our maternity services and medical wards on Tuesday and Wednesday.  We are awaiting the formal feedback from this visit and also expect CQC inspectors will be coming back to meet with staff as part of this focussed review of maternity and medicine services.  The CQC has also now confirmed that they will come to STSFT for 3 days between Tuesday 9 August and Thursday 11 August.  This will be to carry out a 'well-led' inspection of the whole Trust.  This will be an important opportunity to showcase the excellent work that takes place every day throughout our organisation to deliver the very best patient care.  We will share more information with staff ASAP about the forthcoming inspection in August and let you know more about what to expect.   Please be aware that CQC inspectors may choose to visit any area of the Trust at any time so please make sure our usual high standards of safe patient care are evident at all times, especially around infection, prevention and control.

IMPORTANT REMINDER - It is also important that all teams, departments and individual members of staff take immediate action to make sure that training and appraisals are up-to-date.  Although the compliance period was relaxed during the pandemic, our expectation is that all staff should be up-to-date on ESR with their Statutory and Mandatory training by the end of June 2022 which is now imminent.  We know it has been an exceptionally busy time but please can you now make every effort to complete this as a matter of urgency.  If you have any queries or please contact the ESR helpdesk on stsft.esrworkforceinformation@nhs.net.
