Team STSFT was again recognised in the recent Bright Ideas in Health Awards. Now in its 18th year, the awards are organised by the Academic Health Science Network for the North East and North Cumbria.
Charlotte Mutton, Specialist Lead Bereavement Midwife won the Innovation Champion Award. Charlotte was recognised for the work she has done to develop ‘forever cherished care’. This has improved the care and support given to families who have experienced baby loss. Charlotte has also developed a bespoke training package for colleagues to support the care they provide to grieving families.
Colleagues from the Trust were also recognised in the winning entry for the Innovation and improvement in reducing health care inequalities category. Emma Lee and Simon Reay, Clare Anderson and David Newell were part of a collaboration to improve health care for autistic children and adults. The team invited in an ‘Expert by Experience’ to look at all areas of the Lifecycle Service and report back on what worked well and what needed to be improved.
The Trust was also a finalist in this category for its community hearing screening for adults with learning disabilities. Dr Lynzee McShea was named as one of a team of innovators.
The Bright Ideas in Health Awards celebrate the achievements of individuals and teams working within the health and health education sector. Those nominated have improved services for patients through a technical innovation or better delivery of service.
