At our Health inequalities showcase event in December last year we shared our plans to develop a Health Equity Academy at the trust.

We'll be officially launching our academy on:

  • Friday 30th June
  • 9am until 11.30am
  • STDH Education Centre

On the day, we'll be hearing introductions from our Consultant in Public Health, Ryan Swiers, as well as from a member of our executive team.

Claire Mills and Jon Quine from the ICS will be our first guest speakers. They'll be telling us more about the healthier and fairer programme including ways of working, and governance approach.

This will be followed by Tammy Smith and Kylie Murrell from Sunderland City Council, who will discuss the homelessness health needs assessment.

Our final guests speakers will be Tom Hall and Christina Hardy from South Tyneside Council. They will be giving more information on the health homes project.

The aim of the STSFT Health Equity Academy is to develop a community for people to:

  • Share experiences and expertise locally around tangible actions to take, and measure, in relation to addressing health inequalities in our services.
  • Share learning and work together to develop plans to reduce health inequalities.
  • Hear from a range of guest speakers who will share insights to tackle health inequalities.

If you would like to attend, please email the population health team at: stsft.prevention@nhs.net.

We look forward to seeing you all on 30th June 2023!
