The Safeguarding Team has shared two new briefings.

These explain findings from Safeguarding Adult Reviews or SARs as they are also known.

The latest details can be found by clicking here.

A SAR is a review involving more than one organisation. It looks at how things could have been done differently to prevent harm or death. It aims to promote learning and improve practice.

A SAR can take place in the following circumstances:

  • Where an adult has died and abuse or neglect is known or suspected to be a factor; or
  • Where an adult has experienced serious abuse or neglect which has resulted in permanent harm; and
  • Where there is a concern that people or organisations could have worked better together to protect the adult.

South Tyneside Safeguarding Children and Adult Partnership (STSCAP) has published two briefings.

The names of the people involved have been removed. This is to protect their identity. The full versions are available on the STSCAP website by clicking here

The new reports refer to an adult referred to as AP and adults detailed as AS and AT.

The briefings include a number of areas of learning and questions to think about in the future.

If you would like more information about either report, you can contact the Safeguarding Adults Team on 0191 5410555.
