Reminder for staff wearing uniform/scrubs

To help us maintain good infection prevention and control, were are reminding staff to please not travel to and from work, at any time of day or night, in your uniform/scrubs.

This does not apply to community health workers who are required to travel between patients in the same uniform.  

Uniforms can be taken home in a disposable plastic bag. This bag should be disposed of into the household waste stream. You should use a different bag for bringing your clean uniform back to work. Uniforms should be laundered: 

• separately from other household items 
• in a load not more than half the machine capacity 
• at the maximum temperature the fabric can tolerate, then ironed or tumble dried.

Staff on South Tyneside District Hospital’s site are welcome to use changing facilities above Ward 19, which can be accessed via your security card.
