We are very excited to relaunch the Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA) role at STSFT.

PMAs offer crucial support to midwives, reducing stress and increasing resilience. Offering midwives protected time and a safe space to reflect on their experiences and practice, through open discussion and feedback.

To celebrate the relaunch, we have organized a number of activities. We will kick things off on Monday 21 August. Events throughout the week include:

  • Monday
    • Mindfulness, aromatherapy, crystal healing and meditation. We will be offering group or 1:1 sessions. Please contact amy.dowling@nhs.net to book. The team will be at Maternity SRH in the morning and Maternity STDH in the afternoon.
    • Between 6pm to 8pm the team will be holding a gathering at Seaburn Beach. This will include a positive affirmations fire, sound healing bath and then a cold-water swim.
  • Tuesday
    • PMA visit to Sector 1 and the Antenatal Day services at STDH. We will also be celebrating the success of our international midwives at STSFTs International Nursing Celebration.
  • Wednesday
    • PMA visit to Sector 2 and Sector 3
  • Thursday
    • PMA visit to Sector 4 and Antenatal Day services at SRH
  • Friday
    • Tea Party (SRH Seminar Room 09:30-12:30). All staff are welcome.
    • The Regional PMA team will be attending. They will be visiting clinical areas to chat to staff after the tea party.
    • STSFTs Thrive Team will also be attending to offer more information.

We know how important it is to look after ourselves. At each visit throughout the week the team will be bringing some healthy snacks/fruit/water.
