On Monday, August 15, work will begin to refurbish the current resuscitation area in the Emergency Department at South Tyneside.

To allow the work to go ahead, the current resus will have to be completely vacated, therefore resus patients will be cared for in the first six treatment rooms on the corridor outside of resus and everything else will move round meaning ED will be using the six treatment rooms in SDEC.

SDEC has now moved into the adjacent old Endoscopy Day Unit, which is a permanent move.

The work will take approximately eight weeks, after which we will have a brand new resuscitation area to care for our sickest patients.

Disruption will be kept to a minimum.

Thank you

Team ED.
