Registration Authority (Smartcard) Policy

The Trust’s Registration Authority (Smartcard) Policy has been reviewed and updated.  Smartcards are issued to staff who need to access certain NHS clinical systems, ESR and NHS Mail.  The policy describes the framework and processes that the Workforce Systems and Information Team in the HR and OD Directorate, use for verifying individuals’ identity and issuing, renewing or cancelling Smartcards.

This policy applies to all employees issued with a Smartcard.  Employees who are issued with a Smartcard are responsible for:

  • Ensuring the safety and security of their Smartcard and that PIN codes / passwords are kept confidential.
  • Ensuring that no one else uses or has access to their Smartcard.
  • Reporting any loss, theft or suspected misuse of their Smartcard to their line manager and the Trust’s ESR and Workforce Information Team at stsft.esrworkforceinformation@nhs.net

Infant Feeding Policy (including neonates)

The Infant Feeding policy aims to support families to respond to their baby’s needs and safely feed however they decide to do so, whilst building close and loving relationships.

The policy details information regarding the UNICEF Baby Friendly neonatal standards, and the Trust’s commitment to deliver them. This has been developed and reviewed by a steering group from across the multi-disciplinary team and reflects the current evidence base.

It is essential that all staff supporting infants and their mothers within the Neonatal Unit are competent to do so and supported through training in line with the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative. It is also essential that Trust staff entering the Neonatal Unit understand the importance of adhering to a culture which values parents as partners in care.
