The following policy has recently been ratified by the Trust’s Policy Committee.   Please take the time to review those which may be relevant to your role.

Clinical Observers Policy

This new policy outlines the position of the Trust in relation to hosting observational placements in its patient areas, by clinical professionals who are not employed by the organisation.

The purpose of this policy is to improve –

  • Trust compliance with relevant legislation on employment related checks for clinical observers
  • Patient safety, security, and confidentiality where clinical observers visit the Trust’s patient areas
  • Clarity for the professional visiting the Trust as to the limitations of their role

Whilst the policy applies to clinical professionals who are not employees of the Trust wishing to observe the work of teams within our clinical services, as a means of developing their own practice and knowledge, there are specific duties for Trust employees in relation to agreeing and hosting such placements.
