This is part of interventional radiology. These nurses offer patient care between cases in this location.
They also allow for a smoother pathway and better experience for our patients.
Interventional radiology uses image guidance to help diagnose or to offer treat.
Within this, vascular and non-vascular interventional radiology is an established and expanding field.
Many patients attend for day-case procedures. A significant number are inpatients.
Most are conscious when they have their procedure. They are often sedated by the nurses.
The techniques need the full attention and concentration of the operator. The nurse plays a vital role within the team.
Their responsibilities are like those of nurses in operating theatres. They have the extra responsibility of caring for the patient.
The holding bay is not a recovery area and it does not have beds.
The nurses in this team usually work in the interventional suites, but are not limited to them.

The Radiology Nurse Manager or deputy will lead a tour of the department. A nurse will offer training. Radiology Nurse Manager Lauren Carr can offer more information.
