You might remember our Carer Passport scheme was launched in 2019. However, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on carers was huge, increasing the amount of care they had to provide and taking on new caring roles to support others who needed additional help.

The restrictions within our hospitals, particularly on visiting, highlighted inconsistencies across the Trust in relation to carers and initiated a review of the Carer Passport scheme.

With this in mind, we're excited to announce that the Patient Experience Team will be launching our new Carer Passport across the Trust during Carers Week and Susan Matheson, our Carer Coordinator, will be also be offering support to staff who also have caring responsibilities outside of work.
