Please see the latest update below on our NHSP incentive payments.  These are temporary arrangements and we will continue to review and update staff as things change.  A huge thank you to all colleagues for your support as we manage pressures across the organisation.

NHSP - Allocate on Arrival incentives at SRH and STDH*
The Trust’s £50 Allocate on Arrival incentive will continue until further notice.  This is available to Registered Nurses and Healthcare Assistants booking shifts via the NHSP Wards at Sunderland Royal Hospital and South Tyneside District Hospital.

The £100 Allocate on Arrival incentive for late and night shifts has been extended until further notice.

In order for NHSP to be able to calculate shifts that are eligible for the incentive, timesheets worked within the qualifying period must be authorised and released within the timeframe below (see payment schedule below).

Midwifery - £50 per shift via NHSP*
Registered Midwives and Maternity Support Workers are eligible for a £50 incentive for additional shifts booked via NHSP.  

With effect from today (Wednesday 26 October) this will increase to £100 for late and night shifts booked via NHSP for maternity. 

In order for NHSP to be able to calculate shifts that are eligible for the incentive, timesheets worked within the qualifying period must be authorised and released within the timeframe below (see payment schedule below).

ICAR and St Benedict’s Hospice*
The £50 Allocate on Arrival incentive for ICAR and St Benedict’s Hospice will continue until further notice.  This is available to Registered Nurses and Healthcare Assistants booking shifts via NHSP at ICAR or St Benedict’s Hospice.

In order for NHSP to be able to calculate shifts that are eligible for the incentive, timesheets worked within the qualifying period must be authorised and released within the timeframe below (see payment schedule below).

NHSP - £250 Incentive Scheme - Wards E53, F62 and C33*
Our £250 incentive for nursing staff working NHSP shifts on Wards E53, F62 and C33 at Sunderland Royal Hospital will continue until further notice. 

C33 has now been added to this incentive and includes any shifts worked from Saturday 22 October 

Staff working additional shifts in the 6 week periods outlined below will be eligible for a £250 incentive payment for every 37.5 hours worked during this period up to the value of £750. This includes early, late, long day or night shifts.  The incentive payment is only open to Registered Nurses and Healthcare Assistants who are registered with NHSP. Staff can also continue to pick up the NHSP Allocate on Arrival shifts where an additional incentive will be paid to support wards that require additional nurse staffing.

Please note timescales for payment relate only to incentive payments. Payment for hours worked will continue to be made each week in accordance with the normal NHSP timescales.

*Incentive Terms and Conditions
•    Staff must be registered with NHSP.
•    Staff will be eligible for the incentive payments once NHSP has confirmed that shifts have been worked in the qualifying period.
•    The £250 incentive is up to the value of £750 for shifts worked in the qualifying period.
•    Anyone who cancels a shift with less than 12 hours’ notice will have to recommence their shift count from 0 again to qualify for the £250 incentive. 
•    Please note – all incentive payments are subject to the usual tax and national insurance deductions.
