Parkrun for the NHS’ – celebrating the NHS’s 75th anniversary.

The NHS is delighted to have teamed up with parkrun UK to mark the NHS’s 75th anniversary this July.

NHS staff and volunteers, as well as local communities, are encouraged to ‘parkrun for the NHS’ at parkrun events on Saturday 8 July or junior parkrun events on Sunday 9 July.

At STSFT we’re teaming up with three local parkruns where staff can get involved and show their support. Whether you’re a regular parkrunner or new to the event we’d love to see you there!

Join us at the following locations, where you can walk or run the 5k course, or alternatively you can volunteer to support on the day.

Saturday 8th July:

Sunday 9th July:

We will be there on the day to support all runners and volunteers. A member of our senior team will also be there to say a few words at some of the runs before they starts. Parkrun is also asking everyone taking part to wear blue in support of the NHS.

We would love to see as many of you there as possible to represent #TeamSTSFT! Adults can participate in the Saturday events, and children (ages 4-14) can take part in the Sunday event.

To take part as a runner or a volunteer, you simply need to register for parkrun by clicking here.

Once you’ve done that, please make sure you email the parkrun you've registered for (using the email addresses above) and let them know you’re from STSFT, just so we know who is attending... It’s as simple as that!

About Parkrun for the NHS:

‘parkrun for the NHS’ is an opportunity for parkruns and the local community to acknowledge the huge contribution that the NHS makes to the health of the nation and celebrate all the staff and volunteers, past and present, who have made the NHS what it is.

This is the second time parkrun UK and the NHS have worked together in this way. In 2018, for the 70th anniversary of the NHS, an incredible UK-wide celebration was held which saw more than 146,000 people taking part as walkers, joggers, runners and volunteers, many of whom had never been to a parkrun before. The celebration was spearheaded by former nursing assistant, regular parkrunner and Olympic gold medallist, Dame Kelly Holmes.

‘parkrun for the NHS’ not only recognises and celebrates this huge milestone for the NHS, it also encourages many more people to get involved with their local parkrun or junior parkrun and to make steps towards a more healthy, active lifestyle – which is something we’re really passionate about here at STSFT!
