A reminder to all colleagues that following the migration to NHSMail in April last year, any emails sent to old STFT and CHS email addresses have been automatically forwarded on to your NHSMail account. This forwarding service was designed to assist users during the transition to the new email system and is time limited.

Staff who have not already done so now have 3 months to inform any remaining contacts, third parties or mailing lists that still send to your old address to instead send all communications to their new NHSmail address.

This may include:

•             Advise any organisation still sending to your STFT or CHS email address to switch to your NHSmail address,

•             Update any automated processes externally that currently send to your STFT or CHS email address, to use your NHSmail address instead.

•             Update any subscriptions, systems or websites that use your old STFT or CHS email address as a login. Failure to do this may result in you being locked out of an online system or website with no ability to reset your password.

Once the 3 month period ends, any emails sent to your old STFT and CHS email address will not be delivered to you. These messages will not be stored, queued or forwarded and therefore will not be retrievable in anyway. The sender will receive notification that their email was not delivered but they will not be informed of your new address.

You can identify any emails being sent to your old address as the ‘To’ field will contain just your surname and first name or your old email address with either STFT or CHS. Any emails sent directly to your new NHSmail address will contain the organisation name in the To field (SOUTH TYNESIDE AND SUNDERLAND NHS FOUNDATION TRUST).

Should you have any queries about this process, please contact the IT Service Desk.
