Price-capped travel on the Tyne & Wear Metro

Following feedback from our Big Money Tem Talk and in a bid to promote more discounts and offers to our workforce, we’ve been speaking with our friends at Nexus who have kindly sent us 300 of their Pop Pay As You Go Cards to give to #TeamSTSFT. The card (which you can collect from the locations listed below, or alternatively by applying online here) entitles the holder to price-capped travel across the metro system between 2nd January and 31st March.

Nexus, which owns and manages Metro, will cap single journeys at £2, and at £4 for all-day travel, for those who travel with a Pop Pay As You Go Card or an Android smartphone with the Google Pay app installed.

The offer is open to all residents in South Tyneside and Sunderland, including patients, so if you know anyone who may need or appreciate support with discounted travel in the New Year, please direct them to the Nexus website here, where they too can apply for a card.

We have a number of Pop cards available to collect from the following locations:

- SRH main reception

- STDH Ingham Wing main reception

- SEI main reception

- Palmers main reception

- Clarendon Main reception

Simply pop along and show your staff ID badge.
