Newcastle University Stage 5 Medical Student Cohort

2022 at STSFT sees the last ever Stage 5 medical student cohort from Newcastle University. Over the years we have loved having the Stage 5 students, who the Teaching Fellows, patients and other clinical staff have facilitated, taught and supported to develop into Doctors. 

The curriculum in the early 2000’s was the real beginning of City Hospitals Sunderland and South Tyneside hospital achieving teaching hospital status and generations of students have benefited from the experience of being here. 

We want to wish our current stage 5 student group all the best for their future careers as Doctors wherever their careers take them. We also want to thank all of the Trust staff and patients who have helped them and looked after them and their predecessors over many years.

From next year we will be welcoming the students beginning their “year 5” Newcastle University curriculum as well as students from the University of Sunderland and other healthcare students from our local universities. 

For those students who will be staying in the Trust as Foundation Doctors, we look forward to seeing you in the clinical areas very soon!
