Dear Colleague

Over the last six months or so we have been doing lots of work to improve communication across our Trust. This has been done through the big STSFT Team Talk.

This year’s annual staff survey will be a really important way to support our STSFT Team Talk programme. It’s an opportunity for you to share your views about your job, working for the Trust and working for the NHS as a whole. The survey is a key part of understanding how you feel about life at STSFT and how we can continue to improve things as an organisation.

We want the results of the survey to influence how we do things at STSFT. In the same way your feedback through the STSFT Team Talk events in October helped us to shape our new vision, values and strategy.

Through our programme we are committed to involving you and listening to what you say. One of the biggest things you told us was how important it is to have good communication. It helps teams and departments work well together. It also supports our vision for ‘excellence in all that we do’.

This year we will be giving you the chance to win one of two Apple watches when you complete the staff survey. The survey will be sent to all STSFT colleagues via email (and to Estates and Facilities colleagues at South Tyneside via post).

Everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a free prize draw. The draw will be managed by Picker Europe, the independent company who run the survey on our behalf to ensure that individual results remain confidential.

You will receive your invite to complete the staff survey from Picker in the next week or two.

  • We only receive responses grouped from 11 people or more so individuals cannot be identified (for example, if you work within a team of 3, your results will be grouped with at least another 8 colleagues).
  • A unique code is given to each online/paper survey by Picker Institute. This unique code is used to track who has and hasn’t responded, so once you complete and return the survey your code is removed from the system. This means you will no longer receive reminders.
  • You can return your survey blank or opt out of the survey. If you do this, your code will be logged as opted out. You will not receive a reminder if you opt out of the survey.
  • Your personal data will be held in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and UKGDPR. All personal information relating to this survey will be destroyed within three months of its completion.

I hope that you have seen from the recent work we have done through Team Talk, how committed we are to listening to you and acting on your feedback. We want you to feel involved and we want you to know how important your job is and the role you play.
