Dear Ward Managers,

I would be grateful if you can discuss with your teams in preparation of the new documenting process of administration of Medication Patches in MAR. This will be made live in MEDITECH from today, Wednesday 8st March

You may recall last year Ward E58 completed a pilot for the administration of Nicotine patches in MAR, to promote safer administration of patch medication. 

The feedback from the pilot was positive and that it was straight forward to complete, therefore the decision has been made to include this assessment for all patch medication.

Within MAR you will be asked to indicate where on the patients body that the patch has been applied, and for longer term patches a daily reassessment will ask if the patch remains in place (see screenshots below).

Reassessment

Certain Medication patches which are prescribed for more than one day will require a reassessment to ensure that they are still in place.
