Important message from our safeguarding team:
Following the case of a patient in a neighbouring Trust, where a domestic abuse perpetrator was able to locate their victim in a refuge, we need to make colleagues aware of a new 'people tracing' service, which has recently been established online, and can be accessed by anyone in order to obtain the address of another person. This service is not widely-known to the public however it's important we share this with colleagues so they can be aware and remain vigilant, particularly when working with vulnerable patients.
Police, local authority services, and public protection units are aware of this and the police are taking this higher through police commissioners.
As your Trust Stafeguarding team we are worried that this is allowed to happen, and could put patients and staff at risk. Please be assured we are working closely with the relevant agencies to ensure patients are kept safe. We have many avenues for colleagues to raise any concerns they may have regarding their own safety at work. Please ensure you are using these and raising any concerns with your line manager. Physical, verbal, racial or any other form of abuse will not be tolerated from patients/visitors towards our staff.
May we also remind colleagues that we must all be mindful of all confidential information we share. This includes who and how we share our personal identifiable information online and on social media.
Please share with colleagues and any patients you think will need to be made aware of this, and if you have any other questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact the Safeguarding team.
