During a clinical incident on 1/8/23, a patient on a new bariatric bed (Pro Axis 2 with Dyna Form Mattress) required CPR.   A number of challenges were identified.  Please click here for further information.
According to Trust policy a minimum of 75% of relevant staff must be trained to operate a medical device before it can be deployed in a clinical area. It is vital that nursing and other relevant staff attend training for the new bariatric bed as soon as possible.

Note that the existing contract arrangements for bariatric beds currently remain in place for a very limited time scale only, (until September 2023).  Where staff are not trained in use of the new beds, the current contract arrangements, using beds staff are more familiar, with must be used while these arrangements remain in place.
