As the festive season is now upon us, staff are reminded of their responsibility to declare ANY offers of gifts, hospitality or sponsorship, as well as all relevant and material commercial/business interests.
Any gifts, hospital or sponsorship offered to the value of £25 and over, received or declined, must be declared as and when they occur. This includes any gifts, hospitality or sponsorship given to a ward/department as well as an individual, as part of their employment. If any such items are received, they should be discussed in the first instance with line managers so that actions can be agreed to mitigate any risk to the individual and the organisation.
Gifts from patients and staff (including ex-employees) given to reflect their appreciation for the care and service they have received, can be accepted if they are of low value (below £25), however these must be also be declared using ESR.
