Please note - all patients discharged on a feeding pump will now be provided with an Infinity 3 pump and not the infinity 2 pumps we use across all wards within the hospital on both sites.  There is no timeline from Nutricia as it stands to replace hospital ward stock of infinity 2 pumps, so to be clear, Infinity 3 pumps will only be provided to patients being discharged.

We have identified wards with highest levels of patients who go home on tube feeding via a feeding pump (B26, C33, D41, D46, E50, and paediatric wards).

Pathway is that any patient going home on pump will have training from a nutricia nurse prior to discharge - this has always been the case.

Nutricia will be in contact with wards to arrange training with nursing staff so that they have awareness & confidence of how infinity 3 pumps work.  Training is not limited to wards mentioned and there has been interest from other wards who will receive training from Nutricia.

Please see attached visuals on how to use the Infinity 3 pump, and Nutricia will provide copies when they do training.  Medical equipment library are aware and will receive training.

Nutricia nurses always make contact/visit patient/family once they are discharged to ensure no concerns

South Tyneside site have a small pool of Infinity 2 pumps for discharge and so will use these before start with infinity 3 pumps.  Dietitians aware.

Any concerns please link in with the dietitian who covers your ward.
