On Monday 6th February 2023 work will start to demolish the old GUM building on the Sunderland Royal Hospital site.

This work will be carried out in 2 phases. Phase one involves demolition within the building. This will take approximately three weeks. After this the building will be taken down. There will be resurfacing works over the weekend of the 11th / 12th March.

Due to the nature of the work, we will need to close a small area of the car park around the building. Again, this will be done in phases to try and minimise disruption to staff and patients.

When this work is complete in March there will be an additional 37 car parking spaces available. Current work on the substation will also finish at the end of March and will again free up further car parking spaces for staff and patients.

As always, thanks for your patience and understanding.
