Damage caused to doors at Sunderland Royal Hospital Main Entrance 

Work is ongoing to repair the Main Entrance at Sunderland Royal following damage caused last night.

The work is needed after an incident where a car collided with the doors.

Following a diversion, where people were asked to use the Emergency Department to get in and out of that part of the hospital, it is now possible to use one side of the Kayll Road entrance.

This has been made possible after our CHoICE Estates Team made the area safe.

Work is underway to arrange further repairs. 

We would ask colleagues to refrain from taking photos. 

Northumbria Police have supported us following this incident and inquiries are being carried out.
