As part of our ever-growing Workforce Health and Wellbeing offer, we're excited to let colleagues know that we'll soon be launching our STSFT Workforce Walking Groups.

To help support the mental and physical wellbeing of our workforce, we'll be hosting weekly walks in our local areas. Walking is simple, free and one of the easiest ways to get more active and become healthier. It's also good to help switch off from daily stresses. Joining a walking group is a great way to start walking regularly, to get to know your work mates and stay motivated.

But, we can't start a walking group without leaders! And that's where we need your help. If you're a keen walker (whether that's hiking in the mountains or walking the dog) and passionate about supporting your fellow #TeamSTSFT colleagues stay well, we want to hear from you...

We were originally looking to train ten walk leaders to support with our new walking group. But due to popular demand we're adding another training session for an additional ten people! The second walk leader training session will take place on Friday 30th September, from 10:00am - 4:30pm, at South Tyneside District Hospital.

You'll be fully trained on how to lead a walking session including route planning, managing different levels of ability and ensuring everyone is safe. All we'd ask is that you can commit to leading five walks across the year. The walks and training will take place outside of your normal working hours and will not be a part of your paid role with the Trust, it will be on a volunteer basis.

If you'd like to express an interest in becoming a walk leader or want to know more information, please contact: stsft.thrive@nhs.net no later than Friday 21st September.
