Four Continence Care Nurse Practitioners will be working part-time alongside staff on the care of the elderly wards (E56, E52, E51, B21 SRH and wards 2 and 19 STDH) from Monday 3rd August.
The aim of the project is to improve knowledge at ward level on continence management, in order to reduce Moisture Associated Skin Damage (MASD) and Pressure Ulcer incidence.
The Nurse Practitioners will be supported by Ward Managers/Matrons, the Tissue Viability team and the Bladder and Bowel service to monitor and audit staff knowledge, acting accordingly to embed education in a variety of formats across the care of the elderly wards. In addition, integral to the role of the Nurse Practitioner role will be the monitoring of MASD and Pressure ulcer incidence as the project progresses.
