Clinical Research Practitioners CRPs play in vital role in the delivery of research across STSFT. CRPs work in research delivery roles and deliver direct contact to research participants, they work as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team including principle investigators (PIs) and research nurses to deliver safe, ethical and high quality clinical research care. They are a recognised occupational group in Health and Social Care in the UK and since April 2021 can register with the Accredited CRP Register as part of the Healthcare Science (AHCS) Accredited Register.
The CRP Register is open to experienced practitioners who have developed skills and knowledge within their scope of practice and can demonstrate they meet the Standards of Proficiency for CRPs. CRPs within the research team include Clinical Trials Officers (CTOs) Research Assistant Practitioners and Research Associate Practitioners.
Rosie Hovvels is a Research Associate Practitioner working with O&G at STDH her role involves identifying and approaching research participants, she supports participants in their research journey from screening, recruitment, consent and follow up. Rosie is integral to the team and in being on the Accredited CRP Register commented ‘I am pleased to be part of a community of researchers dedicated to the continuous growth and development of clinical research’.
