Carers Week is from 5th - 11th June
The theme for Carers Week 2023 is 'recognising and supporting carers in the community'. We have lots going on for carers including our own staff who are also carers as well as their roles here at STSFT. You can find all of the information below:
The introduction of the ‘Carer Pass’ as part of the ‘Carer Passport’ scheme was implemented to provide recognition of carers within the community. It was also to raise awareness of the support available to carers during a hospital visit to outpatients or the Emergency Departments. The Carer Pass also supports a carer to have a discussion regarding obtaining a Carer Passport if the person they care for is admitted to an inpatient area/ward.
If you are a community service and require supplies of the Carer Pass to issue to carers of your patients, or if you would like to find out more about the Carer Pass or Carer Passport scheme please email: stsft.patientexperienceteam@nhs.net
As part of Carers week, we would also like to recognise the contribution of carers who continue to provide support to the person they care for whilst they are in hospital, and we would like to hear about their experiences. We have created a survey for carers to complete. Printed versions will be delivered to your wards, and a printable version can also be accessed by clicking here. Any completed surveys can be placed in the Friends and Family post box, no later than Friday 9th June. All carers who complete a survey will be entered into prize draw to win a hamper which will be drawn on Monday 13th June 2023.
The Patient Experience Team will be in the main concourse of both hospital sites on the following dates:
As well as this, our dedicated Carer Coordinator will also be out and about in the following week at the below sites. She is on hand to discuss any information and support colleagues may need surrounding their rights as a carer.
If you are a carer for a family member, friend or child and need support or advice, please email: s.matheson@nhs.net
