Throughout the week leading to Carers Rights Day, The Patient Experience Team attended a variety of events hosted by South Tyneside and Sunderland Local Authorities and Carer Centres. Whilst out and about during the week Carers shared their experience of our Carer Passport Scheme, below are a couple of their stories.

Let me come when I wanted to and for how long, I was able to feed Dad on lunchtime and was trusted with his medication as it can take him 30-45 minutes to take them, I could give him the same routine as we have at home. They had trust in me, it is my 24hr role

I think if they had gone through the agreement it might have helped more, I could have been more involved apart from access it has been no benefit

Below are a few pictures from the week.

To share these experience further training and information will soon be available on the staff intranet page in relation to the Carer Passport Scheme. This will include myth busting some of the challenges that carers have faced when the person they care for has been in our Hospital.
