The next cohort will start on 5th June 2023. Students will be expected to attend sessions on campus. Dates are listed below and are included in the course information that can be accessed via this link. 

This programme will equip the attendees with the essential skills, knowledge and understanding in order to work effectivity and confidently in with older people with complex needs, and their families and carers.

The course is suitable for registered health professionals, who have studied at level 5 or above and who work with older adults within the hospital or community settings. It will be delivered face to face over 5 full days once fortnightly, the participants will be assessed through the submission of a 2500 word assignment

The participants will gain a foundation in the knowledge and skills required for providing safe, sensitive, patient centred compassionate care for the older person and their carers.

They will learn how to undertake comprehensive assessments of needs, recognise and respond to the older deteriorating patient, identify indicators of frailty and recognise dementia, depression and a range of comorbidities.

The programme will develop their skills and understanding of working with complexity including polypharmacy, and their role in multi professional teams and the wider agencies involved in promoting health and well-being for older people.
