We are looking for Healthy Volunteers to take part in a short MRI scan at Sunderland Royal Hospital on the 15th February and 22nd February. 

Why:
Cardiovascular MRI Mapping is a very new technique for measuring diffuse heart muscle problems.

Who:
We are seeking healthy volunteers in order to develop our scanner specific normal mapping ranges.

We are looking for men and women who: 

  • don't have any medical conditions 
  • don't take any regular medication
  • don't smoke 
  • are average build for your height

Aim:
We want to undertake a shortened version of this heart scan. (This is non-contrast and there are no needles). Watch an example here: British Heart Foundation - Your guide to a cardiac MRI, heart disease test.

The aim is to measure the mapping parameters in healthy people so we can develop our scanners local normal range. 

What is required?

  • We need 20-30 minutes of your time. 
  • Permission from your Line Manager to attend (we do not need to see evidence of this)

What will happen?

We will scan your heart... 

  • you will also need to complete a questionnaire to make sure that you can have the scan (implanted metal can pose a risk in the MRI scanner)
  • you will have an ECG attached
  • you will need to hold your breath for about 10-12 seconds during scan
